Brussels 19.02.2024 Today Yulia Navaly, the widow of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny who perished in Russian prison on February 16 meets the EU Foreign affairs ministers.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell said on X that Navalnaya will be at the EU Foreign Affairs Council.

“Today, we will have here with us his wife, Yulia Navalnaya, who will send a message, a political message, about how to support the political opposition inside Russia against Putin’s regime” the EU top diplomat Josep Borrell said upon arrival to the Foreign ministers Council.
“You see, during this weekend, many people have been demonstrating in the streets of Russia, in Sankt Petersburg and Moscow, in spite of the repression. Many of them have been detained and sentenced. We have to send a message of support to the Russian opposition and at the same time, we will continue watching how the war is [developing]. It is about two years since Putin launched this war against Ukraine, and he does not look ready to stop it, on the contrary”.
Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny’s body was reportedly found with “signs of bruising” this weekend, while government officials told his mother on that Navalny died of “sudden death syndrome.”
Officials at the prison where Navalny died told his mother that his body could not be handed over until an investigation had been completed. They said his body was sent to a nearby morgue, from where it was smuggled to another city –
An anonymous paramedic claiming to work for the morgue told independent news outlet Novaya Gazeta Europe that the bruising was consistent with a person being held down while suffering a seizure.
A clip has now emerged showing a van – understood to be carrying his bruised body – in a convoy of prison vehicles and two police patrol cars in the cloak of nighttime.
One car was unmarked, possibly an FSB security service escort.
The 35-mile midnight dash in -30C temperatures started the day Navalny is reported to have died from his Arctic prison and continued early on Saturday.
It came just hours before Navalny‘s mother Lyudmila, 69, and lawyer arrived at the hellhole jail in an attempt to collect his body.
