Russian €1.5bn expropriation in Ukraine favor

Brussels 29.08.2024 In July, the Euroclear depository reported that in the first half of 2024 it had received 3.4 billion euros in interest from frozen Russian assets and would transfer about 1.55 billion euros to the EU fund for Ukraine, RIA Novosti reports.
While the union previously compensated countries for already paid supplies, it is now switching to pre-financing using income from frozen Russian reserves, RIA Novosti continues.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reported on July 26 that the European Union was transferring the first tranche of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 1.5 billion euros from income from frozen Moscow assets.

Previously Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov indicated, that Russia would respond accordingly in the event of confiscation of frozen Russian assets in the West, accordint to Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
