EU condemns Iran attack against Israel

Brussels 02.10.2024 “The EU condemns in the strongest terms Iran’s attack against Israel which constitutes a serious threat to regional security. The EU reiterates its commitment to the security of Israel” reads the Statement by the High Representative on behalf Josep Borrell of the EU on the Iranian attack against Israel.

“Once again, a dangerous cycle of attacks and retaliations risks fuelling an uncontrollable regional escalation which is in no one’s interest. The EU remains fully committed to lower the tensions and contribute to de-escalation to avoid a dangerous regional conflict.

“The EU is and will continue to be in close contact with all actors to this end. We call on all parties to exercise utmost restraint”.

Israel informed that Iran launched more than 180 missiles in a large-scale attack. Millions of people rushed to shelters, however paramedics said two were lightly injured by shrapnel.
The Israeli military said most of the missiles were intercepted in joined defense operation with the U.S. military, but that there were a “small number of hits”. It accused Iran of a “dangerous escalation” and warned of “consequences”.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said 90% of the missiles hit their targets and that it had retaliated for the killings of the leaders of its allies Hezbollah and Hamas, as well as a top Iranian general. Chief of staff of Iranian armed forces informed that Nevatim airbase, and Mossad Headquarters were among targets by missile strike.

Minister of Foreign affairs of Iran Abbas Araqchi said “Our action concluded unless Israeli regime decides to “invite further retaliation”.
