Borrell calls for “power response” to Putin

18.11.2024 The EU Foreign Affairs Council has started today in Brussels, chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell. At doorstep of the meeting Borrell answered a few questions of the journalist.

There is a broad agenda for discussion for the EU top diplomats:

Russian aggression against Ukraine
EU Foreign Affairs Ministers will discuss the Russian aggression against Ukraine, after an informal exchange of views with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha, via videoconference.

Georgia
The Council will exchange views on the situation in Georgia, in light of the parliamentary elections held on 26 October.

EU-US relations
EU Ministers are expected to discuss transatlantic relations in light of the outcome of the US presidential and parliamentary elections of 5 November.
Situation in the Middle East
The Council will have a discussion on the latest developments in the Middle East.
Horn of Africa
The Council will exchange views on the situation and recent developments in the Horn of Africa.
