Brussels 04.04.2025 During the press-conference, concluding two day meeting of the NATO Foreign ministers, the Secretary General Mark Rutte described the complexity of task of attaining peace in Ukraine.
“The Americans are trying to get peace in Ukraine in a way that it is fair, that it is enduring”, in a way that Russian President Putin ‘will never, ever try again to get one square kilometre or one square mile of Ukraine in the future”. The key to this deterrence lies in providing Ukraine with all necessary equipment

Among the undertakings Rutte mentioned Czech, Danish, and Lithuanian providing Ukraine with ammunition, and also inside Ukraine to activate the defense industrial base, which still have a lot of capacity left.

Rutte welcomed French and the British plans to strengthen Ukraine military by training. Furthermore
NATO just opened in Poland the JATEC-centre, to process experiences obtained in Ukraine.
The Command in Wiesbaden is also involved in all the training activities to ensure that the Ukrainian army is, in the future, capable to defend itself, but also to ensure that all the defense industrial deliveries are fulfilled effectively.
There is the pledge of €20 billion to support Ukraine continuation of struggle, and if ever there is a peace deal, that they can stay safe in the future.

Furthermore there is the French and British initiative to build an extra layer of support post a peace deal. But unfortunately, there is not yet a peace deal. There is not even a ceasefire, and the Americans are working day and night to get that going.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave details of the negotiations in Kyiv with Great Britain and France on the deployment of a military contingent on the territory of the country. His words are quoted by the publication “Obshchestvennoye”.

According to him, representatives of Kyiv, Paris and London discussed the presence on the ground, in the sky and at sea. “We will meet every week – not at my level, but at the military level. Where, in what places the contingent will be located – this is discussed separately,” Zelensky said.

He also added that no more than a month is needed to discuss this issue. Zelensky noted that the powers of the contingent will still be discussed additionally.

Earlier, on April 4, a meeting of representatives of France, Great Britain and Ukraine was held in Kyiv regarding the deployment of a military contingent in Ukraine. It was held at the level of the chiefs of military staff of the three countries.
