Brussels 04.01.2025 The European Union didn’t oppose the kidnapping of the Venezuela president from the capital. The EU heads of insitutions repeaded the irrelevant formulas about respect for international law, and reiterated its commitment to a democratic and peaceful transition, after the U.S. large scale attack took place. At present the numbers of vicims among military, and civilians remain unknown. The Venezuela vice-president Delcy Rodriguez demanded the unconditional release of their head of state.
Venezuela’s Vice President accused the United States of kidnapping President Nicolás Maduro after overnight airstrikes, denouncing what she described as a “regime change operation” aimed at depriving the country of its sovereignty and natural resources.
In a speech on state television, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez said that Washington’s actions showed that “the masks have fallen,” arguing that the true objective of the operation was to dismantle Venezuela’s political independence and reimpose colonial-style rule.
Previously, US President Trump praised Rodriguez, saying: “She is essentially willing to do what we think is necessary to make Venezuela great again.”
Rodriguez, however, poured cold water on this announcement of Trup, demanding Maduro’s release and promising to defend the country against foreign aggression.
“We had already warned that an aggression was underway under false pretenses and false excuses,” Rodriguez said.
“What is being done to Venezuela is barbaric.”
