“Hopefully, the Islamic fundamentalists will not be able to impose their agenda on Turkey-Russia relations, just entering a normalisation period, – said Middle East expert Amanda Paul to Brussels diplomatic, commenting on assassination of Russian ambassador Andrei Karlov in Ankara, Turkey (19/12/2016).

The terroristic act happened at first signs of normalization of relations between two countries when ambassador Karov was giving a speech at opening of a photo exhibition.

“I don’t think Kremlin will allow anyone to influence their policies in Middle East, namely Syria, and Aleppo, – continued Paul. – The tragic incident will certainly outrage many, and rightly so, however it will not change a cause of events”.

“The Islamic fundamentalism remains a common threat to the West and to Russia, they have to defeat, – concluded Paul. She expects that clarifications and condolences from Ankara will follow shortly.
