“This was hit by a suspected drone,” Atwood relayed. “This comes after last night, we were tracking drones that had hit the U.S. embassy in Riyadh, [Saudi Arabia].”

“This is a very dangerous situation on the ground, of course, for all the people that are living there, but also the Americans who are at these embassies,” she added.

After sharing a video of smoke rising from the consulate building, CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins reported on X that Secretary of State Marco Rubio told the press pool “all personnel is accounted for after this hit and that a drone struck a parking lot next to the main building.”
