Poland: Two Ambassadors Quit in protest

31.10.2026 Ambassador to Romania, Paweł Soloch, has resigned, saying he can no longer serve amid what he called an “attempted unlawful takeover” of the Constitutional Tribunal in Warsaw.
Soloch previously headed Poland’s National Security Bureau under former President Andrzej Duda.
His resignation follows that of another Polish diplomat, Amb.Jakub Kumoch assigned to China.
Two diplomats walking out over the same constitutional fight is starting to look less like an isolated protest.
“In connection with the fact of an attempt to unlawfully take over the Constitutional Tribunal, I see no possibility of continuing to serve as the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Romania.
I have informed @prezydentpl and @sikorskiradek of my resignation.

“In light of the events in the country, I have concluded that it is no longer possible for me to continue serving as the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland. As of today, I have submitted my resignation and a request for recall” wrote the Ambassador to China Jakub Kumoch.

“I acknowledge the unprofessional conclusion of your mission. You no longer represent the Republic” the Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski wrote on his Twitter page.
