Iraq: French jihadists sentenced to death

ALERT! Utrecht terrorist incident

National Coordinator for Counter-terrorism and Security, Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg, said that the shooting incident in  #Utrecht has all the characteristics of a terrorist attack. The threat level for the province of Utrecht has been raised to 5, the highest level in the Netherlands.

Mr.Aalbersberg is currently assuming one suspect, but does not exclude the possibility that there are more perpetrators. He did not want to say anything about the situation of the victims during the press conference. There is a massive search for the shooter.

A tram was fired this morning at 24 Octoberplein in Utrecht. There are several wounded, possibly one dead, the police say.

The municipality of Utrecht has therefore advised residents to stay indoors.

Mr.Aalbersberg said at a scheduled press conference that there has been a shooting at various locations. Earlier, the police had said that shooting was taking place in one place.

Searching for the perpetrator is a risky operation, Mr.Aalbersberg said. “The emergency services can now use all their energy to perform their task. That is why the threat level in Utrecht has been increased.” Raising the threat level is also intended to alert citizens.

AMENDED:

A gunman has opened fire inside a tram and at several other locations in University city of Utrecht, authorities say.

Several people have been injured and one is feared to have died, Dutch media reports.

Public transport has been stopped.

Police said the gunman is still at large.

MEP calls for specific legislation for terrorism victims

The initiator of the “White and black book on terrorism” Member of the European Parliament Maité PAGAZAURTUNDÚA-RUIZ (Spain, ALDE) hopes for a specific European legislation to assist the victims of terrorism, underlining that first aid is essential, and it means a great deal in recovery.

PAGAZAURTUNDÚA-RUIZ underlines that countries like Spain and France, having an extensive experience in dealing with victims of terrorism can share the it with the other member-states, lacking such a knowledge= The exchange of experience would help to provide effective aid to the victims, because dealing with the consequences if one of the ways of fighting terrorism.

An extensive  research on the EU citizens-victims of terrorism, covering period of the beginning of the XXI century (2000-2018) is expected to rise the sensibilities for the lawmakers for necessity to create a special legislation, directed to assistance of the terrorism victims, developing common EU approach to the phenomena, through sharing the valuable experience across Europe. More than 90% of EU victims of terrorism inside and outside the European Union are casualties of radical Islam jihad practice.

MEP Maité PAGAZAURTUNDÚA-RUIZ  has personal experience of terrorism, losing her brother as a result of a targeted attack. Joseba PAGAZAURTUNDÚA, was murdered by Basque terrorist group ETA in 2003 after a long period of threats, harassment and aggression.

Black-white paper on terrorism victims

Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Maite Pagazaurtundua-Ruiz (Spain, ALDE) composed a list of people killed in terrorist attacks on the European Union (EU) soil between 2000 and 2018. MEP also has drawn the other list of the European citizens murdered outside the bloc external borders during of the same period. The conclusions of his “White and Black Book of Terrorism” will be presented on March 5, in partnership with the French Association of Victims of Terrorism (AFVT). A tribute to the missing, aged from 1 to 90 years old.

Anticipating the event in the European Parliament the Center for the Analysis of Terrorism (CAT) posted on Twitter micro blog the charter of Le Parisien on terrorism:

“White and black paper terrorism in Europe: census of 1.868 dead (90% victims of Islamist terrorism) from 2000 to 2018 including 753 in Europe. 379 French victims in Europe and worldwide since 2000”.

 

The CAT provides a unique ability of research and analysis on terrorism and response strategies, with a focus on the organizational, financial and spatial patterns of terrorist activities.

MEP Maite Pagazaurtundua-Ruiz, who launched the project, lost a brother murdered by the Basque separatist organization ETA.

The presentation of the report will take place in European Parliament, Brussels on March 5.

 

 

French jihadists face trial in Iraq

Iraqi courts will prosecute 13 French citizens captured while conducting jihad for the Islamic State terrorist group in Syria, President Barham Saleh confirmed.

The jihad fighters, who were turned over to Iraq after being seized by Kurdish forces in Syria, “will be judged according to Iraqi law,Saleh told at Paris news conference after talks with President Emmanuel Macron.

“Those who have engaged in crimes against Iraq and Iraqi installations and personnel, we are definitely seeking them and seeking their trial in Iraqi courts,” he continued.

An Iraqi government source informed that 14 French citizens engaged in jihad had been brought to Iraq by the US-backed forces trying to remove them from their last bastion in Syria.

Bomber screams Allah Akbar in Amsterdam airport

The witnesses in Schiphol Ariport, The Netherldands claim the bomber, threatening to blow up airport shouted “Allah Akbar’.

AMENDED: Dutch police has not discovered any explosives on the arrested individual. NOS TV channel reported, that the alleged bomber is 51 year old Canadian citizen, the same sources added that his is physiologically unstable.

 

 

IS militants families ordered repatriation to Belgium

A Belgian judge has ordered the relevant government offices to repatriate six children of Islamic State (IS) militants and their mothers who have been detained in a camp in Syria, the national news agency Belga said reported.

Tatiana Wielandt, 26, and Bouchra Abouallal, 25, both Belgian citizens, and their children have been held in the Al-Hol camp in since the defeat of Caliphate in nearly all territory it once held in Syria and Iraq.

Belga quoted the court ruling as ordering the government to take all necessary and possible measures to ensure the six Belgium citizens and their mothers can return home.

After a series of terrorist attacks Belgium has changed the rules, ordering anyone returning from the Levant a pre-trial detention and a three–five-year (and sometimes longer) prison sentence. In jail, these individuals are spread among the general prison population with individual security measures and monitoring, as well as constant assessment of radicalisation behaviour by trained staff and special units.

Furthermore, inmates are offered tailor-made disengagement programmes and probation measures to facilitate their return to society. The security services and local agencies receive relevant information from the prison authorities to ensure continued monitoring and adequate counselling.

Belga news agency did not inform about the further procedures concerning the group of IS members of the family.
