COVID19: China disinformation caused deaths

As the country of origin, China initially allowed disinformation to spread as quickly as the virus. Rather than helping other countries prepare a swift and strong response, it is increasingly apparent that they manipulated vital information about the virus in order to protect the regime’s image“, commented the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the British Parliament, Tom Tugendhat MP. The Committee has published a Report on Viral Immunity – The FCO’s role in building a coalition against COVID-19.

At present over a million of established cases of coronavirus worldwide are reported by medical instances (1,289820) and more than 70 thousands related deaths (70,624). However the experts warn that the statistics available is not exact, because not all dead received conronovirus port-mortem examinations, subsequently the real numbers could be substantionally higher.

Karl Marx attracts Chinese pilgrims

A new statue of Communist philosopher Karl Marx (5 May 1818 – 14 March 1883) is unveiled on the 200th anniversary of his birth in the western German town of Trier.

While the uncovering  event of the 4.4-meter (14-foot) statue of Marx, donated by China, has sparked criticism by some who blame Marx for crimes committed by social revolutionaries in Russia, China and elsewhere in the name of Communism.

The city has invited about 200 guests for the anniversary celebrations.

“It just wouldn’t have been possible to do this 30 years ago,” Trier Mayor Wolfram Leibe said to reporters last month as workers bolted the still-concealed monument onto its pedestal on a square just around the corner from the house where Marx lived with his family until he was 17.

“Karl Marx is one of Trier’s greatest citizens and we shouldn’t have to hide that” – the Mayor claims.

150 000 Chinese tourists make the pilgrimage to Trier each year and his city’s hopes that even more will make the journey after the statue’s installed.

Mogherini: EU-Cuba “closer than ever”

European Union head of External Action Service (EEAS), or de facto minister of Foreign Affairs of the EU, an Italian Socialist Federica Mogherini, visited Cuba, led by Communists.

According to the EEAS, Mogherini headed Cuba to reconfirm the “strong” EU-Cuban relationship, and to press for an “ambitious and swift” joint implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement.

As the U.S.-Cuba rapprochement started in 2015-2016, the EU lifted all sanctions and negotiated the agreement, the first accord.

“The Cuban government continues to repress dissent and punish public criticism”, – the 2017 report of Human Rights Watch says. – However Cuban authorities relay less than in past years on long-term prison sentences to punish its critics, but short-term arbitrary arrests of human rights defenders, independent journalists, and voices of disscent have increased dramatically in recent years, including repressive tactics of beatings, public shaming, and termination of employment, – the report reveals.
